“I’m honored to join the Founding Steering Committee for Design at Work NYC. Today, the office has to earn the commute. That creates an entirely new design challenge: how do we create workplaces that offer something people simply can’t get working alone? I’m excited to help shape a platform that looks beyond products to the bigger questions about how design, technology and culture are changing the way we work.”
Award-winning designer, entrepreneur, inventor and creative director Joe Doucet works at the intersection of design, innovation and sustainability. A graduate of ArtCenter College of Design, Doucet approaches design as a tool for solving problems, applying the designer’s thought process across furniture, products, technology, transportation, architecture and the environment. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at the London Design Museum and the Biennale Internationale Design Saint-Étienne, and is held in numerous permanent collections. Doucet has received many international honors, including a World Technology Award for Design Innovation, multiple Good Design Awards and the Smithsonian Cooper Hewitt National Design Award. He was also named a Surface AvantGuardian, and Forbes described him as “the living blueprint for the 21st century designer.” Across disciplines, his work is driven by the belief that good design should do more than make things beautiful. It should improve how we live.
