Joe Doucet Founding Steering Committee Announcement
Award-winning designer, entrepreneur, inventor and creative director Joe Doucet has joined the Design at Work New York Founding Steering Committee, bringing a perspective shaped by design, innovation and sustainability.
Today, the office has to earn the commute.
That idea captures the challenge at the center of Joe Doucet’s contribution to the Design at Work New York Founding Steering Committee: how can design create workplace experiences that offer something people cannot get while working alone?
Working across furniture, products, technology, transportation, architecture and the environment, Joe approaches design as a tool for solving problems. His multidisciplinary practice explores how thoughtful design can improve the way people live, work and connect, moving beyond aesthetics to address wider social, environmental and practical questions.
A graduate of ArtCenter College of Design, Joe has built an international reputation for work that combines creative ambition with purpose. His projects have been exhibited at institutions including the London Design Museum and the Biennale Internationale Design Saint-Étienne, and his work is held in numerous permanent collections.
His achievements include the Smithsonian Cooper Hewitt National Design Award, a World Technology Award for Design Innovation and multiple Good Design Awards. He was named a Surface AvantGuardian, while Forbes described him as “the living blueprint for the 21st century designer.”
As a member of the Founding Steering Committee, Joe will work alongside leaders from architecture, interior design, workplace strategy, corporate real estate, research and the wider built environment. Together, the committee will help shape the content, conversations, key initiatives and overall direction of Design at Work New York.
Joe’s experience across disciplines will bring a valuable dimension to that work. As technology, culture and changing working patterns continue to reshape people’s relationship with the office, his perspective will help the event examine not only what workplaces look like, but why people choose to come together and what design can contribute to that experience.
Speaking about joining the Founding Steering Committee, Joe said:
“I’m honored to join the Founding Steering Committee for Design at Work NYC. Today, the office has to earn the commute. That creates an entirely new design challenge: how do we create workplaces that offer something people simply can’t get working alone? I’m excited to help shape a platform that looks beyond products to the bigger questions about how design, technology and culture are changing the way we work.”
The Design at Work New York Founding Steering Committee brings together influential voices from across the workplace design community to ensure the event reflects the ideas, challenges and opportunities shaping the industry.
Design at Work New York takes place March 10–11, 2027, at the Javits Center in New York City, connecting architects, interior designers, workplace strategists, corporate real estate professionals, manufacturers and industry leaders through product discovery, education, ideas and meaningful connection.
Shaping what’s next. Together.
